Last Exile - Over the Sky [End Angel Feather Version]
I don’t know how to properly describe what this show meant to me when I first saw it. It was MY transition point in how I saw anime; before I saw it, the only experience I had was basically Dragonball Z, Naruto, and InuYasha. Sure they all have their strengths and weaknesses, but in my opinion, they aren’t exactly powerhouses in the plot department.
Last Exile was what showed me that anime as a medium could tell a beautiful story and execute it wonderfully. It was my gateway anime, like what Evangelion and FLCL did for so many other people my age. Last Exile took what was a minor distraction for me, and made it into a major obsession.
Granted, I will acknowledge that it has myriad flaws, but the thing is that never detracted what to me was a superlative experience.
This song, and the final sequence of the show during which it plays, cemented in my mind just how much I could grow attached to a show, and it began the long tradition of dreading the completion of shows because I didn’t want it to end.
Fuck, I don’t know. I love Last Exile so much, and I am fucking ecstatic about Fam, the Silver Wing.
